Construction of a 100,000 tpa organic waste treatment facility
This month, the building site for a new organic waste treatment facility in Bologna was opened. Expected to have a capacity of 100,000 tonnes per annum, the facility will produce enough biogas to heat around 5,000 homes, as well as produce 30,000 tonnes of compost to be sold to farms and garden centres.
Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) will be supplying the Kompogas dry anaerobic digestion technology, which, when complete, is set to be the largest in Europe. Construction on these is scheduled to begin in July 2017.
