New Investment Review: Waste-to-Fuel

In July 2021, AcuComm reported on 14 new waste-to-fuel projects with a cumulative value of US$927 million. These projects, located in Canada, Ecuador, France, Sweden, the UK and the USA, will bring 2.3 million tonnes of new fuel capacity online annually.

Over the 12-month period (August 2020 to July 2021),  AcuComm reported a total of 109 new waste-to-fuel projects with an aggregated annual capacity of over 27 million tonnes. Europe and the Americas were the principal areas of investment, with the USA, the UK and Canada the leading countries in terms of investment value.

New Investment Review: Plastic Recycling

In July 2021, AcuComm reported on 9 new plastic recycling projects with a cumulative value of US$680 million. These projects, in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy and the USA, are due to start operating from 2021 onwards when they will bring over 1.3 million tonnes of annual recycling capacity online.

Over the 12-month period (August 2020 to July 2021), AcuComm reported a total of 71 new plastic recycling projects with an aggregated annual capacity of over 4.3 million tonnes. The United States was the principal area of investment, accounting for 49% of the total.

New Investment Review: Landfill

In July 2021, AcuComm added four new landfill projects with a cumulative value of US$45 million to its WasteView Contract Finder database. These projects, located in Brazil and the United States, will provide 1.3 million tonnes of new landfill capacity. Over the 12-month period (August 2020 to July 2021),  AcuComm covered a total of 43 new landfill projects, valued at over US$800 million.

New Investment Review: AD/Biogas

In July 2021, AcuComm reported on 15 new AD/Biogas projects with a cumulative estimated value of US$243 million. These projects will generate an estimated total of 75 MW (or 5 MW on average at each plant) and consume 1.4 million tonnes of feedstock, of which 34% will be animal-derived (manure/slurry). This new activity was reported in Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Spain, the UK and the United States.

Over the 12-month period (August 2020 to July 2021),  AcuComm reported a total of 231 new AD/Biogas projects with a total estimated investment value of US$4.8 billion.
