Weekly Projects Update – 44 new/updated projects, worth an estimated US$3,222m

In the week ending 27th April 2018, AcuComm added 14 new projects and updated 30 in our database. These have a combined estimated value of US$3,222 million.

This brings our total number of active projects to 4,992. They have an estimated value of US$354.5 million or US$71 million on average.

  • Finland was the leading country in the past week in terms of project value, accounting for US$625 million. This was equal to 19.4% of the total for the week.
  • The leading company was Greenbelt Resources, an equipment supplier based in the USA.

#Editors’Pick – MBT and resource recovery facilities

Israel: Construction of an MBT facility

Shikun & Binui and Azrieli Group, through its GES subsidiary, are to build and operate a facility for the mechanical biological treatment (MBT) of municipal waste in Shafdan, Rishon Lezion.

The facility will use STRABAG Umwelttechnik’s technology to separate waste for recycling and produce biogas from food and organic waste composting operations.

In the week ending 20th April 2018, AcuComm added 11 new projects and updated 29 in our database. These have a combined estimated value of US$4,985 million.

This brings the total number of active projects in the database to 4,975. They have an estimated value of US$355.1 million or US$71 million on average.

  • The UK was the leading country in the past week in terms of project value, accounting for US$2,793 million. This was equal to 56% of the total.
  • DP CleanTech was the leading company last week, a contractor/engineer based in China.

Global Waste Investment Fact File: Ireland

Next up in the 2018 series of the Global Waste Investment Fact File is the Ireland edition. As of February 2018, AcuComm was listing 19 projects in the country. These have a total value of US$1,674 million or US$88 million each.

Key points from this Fact File:

  • Incineration (with energy recovery) is the leading project type, accounting for US$1,191 million or 74% of the total. This is followed by gasification, accounting for US$181 million or 11% of the total.
  • The total estimated capacity of these projects is 3.5 million tonnes. This is equal to 185,083 tonnes per project on average.
  • This capacity is equal to 131% of Ireland’s estimated annual waste generation at 2.7 million tonnes.
  • Waste investments totalling US$966 million are expected to become operational over the next few years. This is expected to peak in 2021 at US$471 million.
