On 10th October 2018, JFE Engineering announced that it has received a design-build-operate (DBO) contract from Izumo City for the construction of a waste-to-energy (WtE) facility. The contract, valued at ¥25.1 billion, will be undertaken in conjunction with Fukuda Imaoka. The construction component of the contract is valued at ¥15.6 billion, with the 20-year operational component set at ¥9.5 billion.
Construction started in September 2018 on the new stoker-type incineration facility which will incorporate two lines, each with a waste throughput of 100 tonnes per day. By adopting an ultra-high-temperature, high-pressure boiler, the new facility will achieve a power generation efficiency of 25.6%.
Construction is scheduled for completion in March 2022.
