Construction of a waste sorting plant.
Stockholm Exergi is planning to carry out the BOSS-project (Brista One Stop Solution), a business concept to offer facilities for sorting municipal solid waste (MSW).
Stockholm Exergi intends to build a new waste sorting plant as an extension to the existing plant, block B2 in Märsta, Sigtuna municipality, Stockholm. On 9th May 2018, the company issued a tender to build the new plant. The closing date for bids has been extended from 9th July to 30th July 2018.
Among other things, the new building will feature a new waste reception facility, sorting plant and electrics/controls, as well as staff areas and a control room. The delivery comprises a complete sorting plant, from reception to delivery of sorted fractions. Residual waste will be transferred to the adjacent Brista combined heat and power plant via a bridge.
After the sorting process, three fractions of sorted waste end up in containers - food in green bags (option 1), magnetic metal and non-magnetic metal - two containers per fraction. Material to be baled: plastic and paper packaging (option 2) is transported via the conveyor to the space between the machine hall and the B2 bunker after baling, where picking and storage take place. Other residual waste is transported to the B2 bunker by conveyor belt.
The design volume of waste to the sorting plant is 140,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) including option 1, comprising organic waste (option 1) 10,000 tpa and MSW 130,000 tpa. If option 1 is not selected, this means that the incoming volume of waste into the sorting plant will fall by 10,000 tpa to a total of 130,000 tpa.
According to the current schedule, civil construction is due to start in October 2018 and be completed in February 2020, with the facility going live in October 2020.
