On 24th April 2018, it was announced that Borås Energi och Miljö has awarded Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC) a SEK 35.54 million contract related to two waste-fired boilers (PVA1 and PVA2) at Ryaverket in Borås.
The work will replace the rear wall, partition, primary and secondary overheads in both boilers. The boiler’s back and middle walls will also be coated on the flue gas side to protect it from the heat.
The work is taking place on one boiler at a time. The first was completed in autumn 2017, while the second boiler will be upgraded in autumn 2018.
The Ryaverket facility also has two biomass-fuelled steam boilers and two steam turbines. The bofuel boilers incinerate mainly wood chips and each has an output of 65 MW. In the waste fuel boilers, household waste is burned. The boilers have an output of 20 MW each and at full load, approximately 14 tonnes/hour of waste are burned in the two boilers.
