In January 2017, Britaniacrest Recycling submitted an application to West Sussex County Council (WSCC) for the development of a recycling, recovery and renewable energy facility at its waste transfer station on the site of the former Wealden Brickworks near Horsham.
The new facility will enable Britaniacrest to recycle about 50,000 tonnes of commercial and industrial (C&I) waste a year and generate electricity from the remaining waste of up to 180,000 tonnes a year.
The proposed development would take three years to complete at a cost of £150 million. It will require a permit from the Environment Agency.
A deadline for comments to be submitted to be submitted to WSCC passed on 29th June 2017.
