On 9th May 2018, China Everbright International announced that it has completed Phase II of the construction of the Boluo Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant.
China Everbright signed an agreement with the Urban Appearance and Environmental Sanitation Administration Bureau of Boluo County, Guangdong Province, to invest in and construct the second phase of the plant in October 2016.
Phase II of the development involved an investment of approximately RMB 180 million. Designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 350 tonnes, Phase II was undertaken on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
The completion of Phase II brings the facility's total daily waste processing capacity to 1,050 tonnes. It will generate over 136,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually. The plant's gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard.
China Everbright completed Phase I of the development in August 2015. It originally secured the BOT contract to build the facility in July 2012.
Phase I of the facility had a daily waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes and entailed a total investment of RMB 447 million. It was designed to generate electricity totalling 91,000,000 kWh annually.
